I'm missing one of the two special barrel nuts that hold the rear seat down. The ones that you access through the rear wheel well area. Anybody have a spare to sell? You can't really see them and I could get a dollars worth of fasteners at the local hardware store but would like a factory part. Than...

Beautiful pair of bikes! Honda really had it going on in the mid 80's. I love that third silencer tucked inside the bodywork on the two stroke. Great paint schemes too. Thanks for sharing.

Hopefully you got your bike home safely. Try charging your battery. If the bike starts normally then your bikes charging system needs to be gone over. Voltmeter at the battery terminals should be over 13 volts at 2500 to 3000 rpms (bike does not charge at idle). If you don't have a charger then jump...

Someone paid dearly for that! $517 plus shipping won the bidding! Missing the seat cowl does totally transform the look of the bike though.

I've never had my engine apart but had to comment. It warms my heart that you've stored your VF1000R for FOURTEEN years with the intentions of getting her back on the road. It's something that is quite rare in today's disposable society. I do know that some owners have had upper engine noise due to ...

I don't think you'll find a NEW pump. An Ebay seller in Oregon just listed one for $225 OBO. Using advanced search shows two sold recently between $65 and $90. He's offering free shipping. Good luck.

Congratulation on your Rothman's VF1000R! I was under the impression they weren't available until 86 but maybe I'm wrong. If I ever find an 86 that either doesn't have the factory RWB paint or needs fairing repairs I'm going to paint and decal it like yours. I have found a decal kit online minus the...

OK, I might not have all the answers but I'll try. I assume you have the starter off the bike so clean the mounting bosses on the starter and the contact point on the block where the starter bolts up. Also make sure your ground cable is clean and tight on both ends. All these points need to be clean...

I never had to take the upper fairing off so I can't give you any advice about that. The lower comes out from under the bike easily if you place some boards in front of both tires and ride up on top of them to increase ground clearance. Don't forget to have another board handy for the kickstand. An ...

Well, not a great turnout from the forum but that's ok. There were two 85 VF1000R's at the show, one being mine. The weather was fantastic as was the quantity and quality of bikes at the show. I believe both bikes made the slideshow that can be viewed on DVNR.org. Mine's the one with the factory hea...

Thanks for the heads up and the perseverance to track down that intermittent electrical gremlin. I know people that never touch that kill switch and only use the key for that reason. I've never had a problem myself on any of my four Hondas though. Good for you for tracking it down. Now you can have ...

Saw this 86 pop up for sale yesterday. It would be on the trailer coming home if it were closer to me. Looks nice for the money.
