Thanks for the reply. I had already stumbled over this bit of information from a friend. Then i believe that isaw it on the shopmanual pages that are available to download. Once i looked at the carbs, i could recognize the caps in question. Have not had the time to do it, yet, but hopefully before t...

I removed the carbs and cleaned them, then reinstalled. Got the bike running and carbs definitely need synchronizing. My question is about starting my bike. I am not able to get it started without using starter fluid. Once warmed up, it will start on it's own. I talked with a friend yesterday and he...

I had the carbs off and cleaned them out, so will need to try and synch them. Perhaps this is contributing to my dilemna. I know they are off a tad. I did see a link to some instructions, so will check out when weather gets a little warmer. BTW, what is a set of front forks worth? Thanks for the hel...

I see, ...no real need for the pump then? It did seem like getting the fuel to originally flow from the tank was not very easy.
I'll give it a try.

I'm assuming that the fuel pump below the tank is just a gravity pump. I'm having a hard time starting my bike when cold. I use starting fluid and after a few minutes, it will idle on its own. Since the bike is carburated, i'm assuming that there wouldn't be too much pressure from the pump? Bike's a...

Yes, i have complete exhaust with aftermarket mufflers. There's a guy interested in having me ship the front exhaust pipes (includes muffler) to Australia. Once I find a proper box to put the piece into, i will go to UPS and get a shipping quote. It's possible that the complete exhaust will be avail...

Greetings, I was given a rather raggedy motorcycle a number of months ago. Looked rather pathetic. Turns out to be an '85 Vf1000R. Nowhere near running condition. Guy told me that he had it runnin' but with only starter fluid squirted down the carbs. I took the carbs off (before I did research here!...
