Hi Steve:

We did not get the R here in the US in 84, but I'll give it a go with what info I can give you.

The color code on both my 85's is located under the seat. its a sticker that reads.

Color Label
Model VF1000RF
Color R-134
Code R-134H

This site shows the different paint schemes for different markets. The Asia/Europe/Australia scheme looks similar to the 85 US scheme, at least to me.

This is the most complete list of Honda paint codes I could find. I stumbled across it when I was trying to decode my 83 VF750F paint code. R-134 shows as "Fighting Red". R-134H is not listed.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hullo 5929steveb,

did you manage to get any paint codes for your vf1000r.
I have a '84 model that is due for a strip down and repaint.
Also, is there anywhere you have found that supply decent decals.
I'll be redoing in HRC colours.

Thanks Ian.

Top yoke was gold, bars were silver paint with clear coat over the top. My guess would be some sort of raw aluminium colour.
