Hi,

I have a 1986 VF1000R.

I recently noticed a very light clunk on stops (forward pressure) and was worried that it might be the head/bearings, but I don't think so now.

After having looked at the front end, I see that the right front rotor will actually move a little when I jiggle it. Wierd. None of the allen bolts look or feel loose and the pads look absolutely fine.

Any ideas about what this is all about?

Thanks...

My bike was making a scary noise when I bought it. I replaced the front wheel bearings only to discover the noise still existed. It seemed worse at lower speeds.

Also, my front brakes just didn't have a firm feel. It turns out that the sliders that the calipers ride on had some corrosion and were sticking (this didn't cause noise, but is worth checking).

It turns out that the bolts and spacers for the floating disk were incorrectly assembled by the previous owner.

I simply dis-assembled and re-assembled. If it goes together to easily, it is probably not correct.

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply.
I'll check out the sliders for the calipers... nice find there.
